As you know if you read the previous post, I am busy interacting with the large screen during these two weeks. This is not a betrayal of the ways of Televigion, merely pre-emptive watching of amazing films that would take time away from my TV watching of the future.
Forget the excuses, I’m having a lovely time. My EIFF 2015 articles are here if you care to read them. But I found time on Sunday evening, after submitting a screenplay for Round 2 of the NYC Midnight competition, to start a new series.
Utopia – a community or society possessing highly desirable or near perfect qualities. I’m sure every review at the time was a play on the “near perfect series” idea but I didn’t read those so I can appropriate it now. Maybe I had an original thought. Or maybe the quality declines markedly from episode 3 on. But for now, I was blown away by the style and conviction of episode 1 and further intrigued (though not quite so blown away) by episode 2. It seems I’ll have to move from Netflix to 4oD, sorry All4, for season 2.
Right, I have a few more films to see in the discomfort of not my own home.
